Gillespie show pleases Ward
19 Mar 2007 - 14:21:21
Cheltenham Town boss John Ward was full of praise for striker Steven Gillespie after his starring role in the 2-0 victory at Doncaster Rovers.
Gillespie scored one and set up the other for Kayode Odejayi at the Keepmoat Stadium, as the Robins boosted their bid to escape relegation to League Two.
Ward told the Western Daily Press: "Steven was very clean and clinical with his finish.
"Kay kept his nerve and finished his chance very well as well. It was also an excellent pass from Gillespie, so he contributed a lot to us winning the game.
"We set our stall out and instead of playing Paul Connor and Gillespie right up front, we played Gillespie a bit deeper and he picked up a lot of ball in that position.
"He played that very intelligently for us. He had a couple of jobs to do for us and he did them very well."
