Cheltenham Town have decided to reward new captain Shane Duff a testimonial as he embarks on his tenth season at the club.
The Whaddon Road outfit will arrange a number of fundraisers throughout the season before a game will be staged in his honour next summer.
He has made 197 starts since his debut in 2002 and has impressed manager Martin Allen during pre-season enough to replace John Finnigan as captain.
Speaking to Gloucestershire Echo, he said: "This will be my 10th season as a pro so I suppose I am being rewarded for my loyalty, which is a rare commodity in today's football.
"It's rare for a player to be at the same club for ten years in any league and it doesn't seem to happen much any more.
"I'd love to know the average length of time a player spends at one club because it can't be that long."
Cheltenham begin life in League Two against Grimsby Town on August 8.
