Cheltenham Town manager Keith Downing has brought Craig Armstrong back to the club following the 32-year-old's departure from Gillingham.
Armstrong left the Priestfield Stadium by mutual consent last week and has now penned a deal that will keep him with the Robins until the end of the season.
"Craig got in touch with us once his contract at Gillingham had been cancelled," Downing told Town's official website.
"Obviously we know him very well from his two years with us and, because of his contribution during that time, his availability interested me.
"We've given him the opportunity to come back and see if he can earn another contract."
Armstrong made 96 appearances for the Robins during his first spell at Whaddon Road before joining Gillingham last summer.
