Yates: Survival is Robins' priority

Yates heads into Saturday's clash at Bradford having made a promising start to his Robins tenure since being appointed just days before Christmas - losing 1-0 to Bournemouth in his opening game before recording an impressive 2-0 triumph at fellow high-fliers Dagenham.[LNB]The club, however, still remain in a precarious position just above the bottom two and Yates acknowledges that there are two different targets for both the long and short-term future of the club.[LNB]"Ultimately, the short-term aim must be to win football matches to maintain Football League status. We have to be a Football League club," he said. "Cheltenham needs that, the area needs that. And we go about that through hard work[LNB]"After that then we've got a blank canvas almost, because everyone's out of contract, to build a squad and build a squad that can hopefully be at the right end of the table.[LNB]"But in the short-term we've got to work hard and pick up as many points as quickly as we can. And just put every effort into getting the players wanting to come into training, wanting to work hard for each other, for me, Neil (Howarth) and John Schofield. And if we can do that then results will happen for us."[LNB][LNB]
