Yates: Players desperate to put on performance

Mark Yates hopes his Cheltenham players use the hurt of last weekend`s 8-1 defeat against Crewe to inspire a vastly-improved performance at home to Rotherham on Saturday. Much has been said at the club`s Seasons training ground since the demolition at Gresty Road but Yates knows only their actions this weekend will count for anything as Town look to lift the gloom over Whaddon Road. "The hurt from last weekend is still massive. I was embarrassed by the performance and I still am," the Cheltenham boss told the club`s official website. "We have talked and worked but until we do something about it on Saturday then that hurt will stay inside me. Hopefully the hurt that I know the players are feeling will go some way to putting in a much better performance. "I know they care and I know they are hurting but we can talk all we like because it`s all going to be about putting in a performance on Saturday." He added: "Of course we want to win this weekend but, after last Saturday, it`s all about the performance and showing they care about that red and white shirt."
