Yates: Players are taking it in their stride

Mark Yates believes his Cheltenham players are finally starting to believe in their own ability but does not feel the greater expectation levels that come with their impressive start to the season will put added pressure on their shoulders. Having been appointed last December and narrowly saving the Robins from relegation, Yates rebuilt his squad over the summer in preparation for his first full campaign in charge. The first 11 games have gone extremely well with Town in seventh place, sparking premature talk of promotion, and Yates is confident his side will take the positives from that and not fall foul of the negatives. "Expectation levels have risen because we have done well," he told the club`s official website. "We`ve always had belief in our players and we want to be as successful as we can be but that realisation is starting to dawn on a few of the players now. "That`s not an added pressure or anything because they are starting to realise they can compete with the best in the league. "The penny has dropped for the players now, they know they are good players and if they work hard enough then who knows what could happen."
