Yates keen to build on steady start

The former Kidderminster manager took the reins from caretaker boss John Schofield back on December 22 and has enjoyed a promising start to his tenure, although he admits there is still much work to be done.

Yates said: "We've made steady progress without doing anything flash, we know we need a couple of wins - that will lift everybody.

"We need a couple of home performances that will get us a win as well but, on the whole, five unbeaten away from home although we haven't won at home. We've done okay.

"We knew we weren't coming into somewhere where everything is rosy. We knew there would be a lot of hard work to be done and there still is. I think we've done okay but there's plenty of room for improvement."

He added: "Throughout the whole season we perhaps haven't scored enough goals and created enough chances but we're trying to address that and improve everything about the football club. We've made ourselves a little bit harder to beat and hopefully we can get a couple of results that will really spark us off."
