Yates down after defeat

Cheltenham boss Mark Yates admitted the last-gasp 2-1 defeat by Gillingham was "a kick in the teeth". The Robins were leading through Steve Elliott's first goal for the club until the 86th minute, when Cody McDonald headed Barry Fuller's cross against the bar and nodded the rebound into an empty net. And three minutes later McDonald completed a dramatic turnaround when he headed in Adebayo Akinfenwa's cross. "We didn't deserve that, but that's the way it's going for us at the moment," said Yates. "If they players continue to give me that level of effort and commitment in the last seven games I will be happy. "It is a real kick in teeth, but sometimes that happens and we have to deal with it. Scott Brown has only had one save to make, but they have two strikers that are decent, we knew that. Two opportunist strikes showed what a good player Cody McDonald is, but I am proud of my boys."
