Town chief reveals cash concerns

The Robins suffered monetary difficulties at the start of last year due to a series of home games being postponed and, although the situation is not as serious this time around, Baker explains the adverse weather conditions will have an effect on the club's bank balance after Town's home games against Hereford and Burton were postponed.[LNB]"Following the postponement of Saturday's high-profile fixture with near-neighbours Hereford, the club are clearly going to experience severe pressure on their cash flow, particularly following the earlier postponement of the Burton match," he told Cheltenham's official website.[LNB]"While both matches have been rearranged, experience tells us that attendances at midweek fixtures are well below those on Saturdays. As a result the club not only suffers an immediate cash-flow issue but when the match is eventually replayed the gate receipts will be significantly lower.[LNB]"We would have expected a gate of over 4,000 on Saturday given the nature of the fixture and following two excellent away performances. The gate on a Tuesday could well be 1,000 less, resulting in a cash shortfall."[LNB]He added: "The club is still evaluating the impact of Saturday's postponement. It will of course be doing everything it can to ensure business as usual and, while that will be a real challenge, the steps taken earlier in the season to reduce expenditure should help us to weather the storm."[LNB][LNB]
