Thomas continues hot streak

In-form Wesley Thomas pounced to grab his sixth goal of the season and earn Cheltenham a third win of the season in a 1-0 victory over Stevenage. The striker's 69th-minute header came from a pinpoint cross by Shaun Jeffers after good work down the right by JJ Melligan and substitute Brian Smikle. Stevenage, who dominated much of the game but without creating many clear-cut chances, were denied an equaliser minutes later by a brilliant save from Scott Brown to keep out Yemi Obubade's diving header. Brown also pulled off a flying stop in the first half to keep out a Joel Byrom shot after a cleverly worked free-kick after 12 minutes. Thomas came close to adding a second in the 90th minute following another slide-rule pass by Jeffers but his shot cannoned off the bar and was cleared to safety. Midfielder Laurie Wilson, who had blazed over for Boro at the start of the second half, was sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence.
