Shots stroll to victory

Aldershot grabbed a second straight win after beating Cheltenham 2-1 in a one-sided encounter at Whaddon Road. The visitors took the lead after 11 minutes when Anthony Charles coolly stroked the ball home when Cheltenham failed to clear a Darren Jones free kick. Peter Vincenti doubled the lead in the 55th minute, pouncing on indecision from Keith Lowe to break clear and round goalkeeper Scott Brown. Shots midfielder Luke Guttridge came close to a third straight after with a free kick which fizzed just wide. The lacklustre Robins snatched a late goal when skipper Michael Pook swung in a cross from the right on that deceived keeper Jamie Young and found the back of the net. It was a rare effort on goal by the Robins who had the chance to grab an unlikely point in injury time but Steve Elliott blazed over.
