Robins wish former boss Allen well

The League Two side confirmed on Friday night that Allen has stepped down as manager despite being cleared of racial misconduct.[LNB]The 44-year-old was accused of racially abusing a bouncer in October and was subsequently placed on gardening leave. Allen denied the claims and was cleared by both Gloucestershire Police and the club. But despite that, Allen has left his position with the Robins and the club are now inviting applicants for the vacant role.[LNB]"Cheltenham Town Football Club wish to announce that following detailed discussions which have taken place between the club and Martin Allen and their respective legal advisers, it has been agreed that Martin Allen will leave his position as manager of Cheltenham Town Football Club with immediate effect," a statement on the club's website read.[LNB]"The departure is by mutual consent following confidential terms of settlement being reached in relation to Martin Allen's contract. The club wish to place on record that it has conducted a full investigation and considered a substantial amount of evidence regarding recent press allegations relating to Martin Allen's conduct.[LNB]"Following detailed consideration of the evidence, the club concluded that there was no evidence to support allegations of racial abuse and the club have cleared Martin Allen of all such charges. The club wishes to thank Martin for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future."[LNB][LNB]
