Robins launch Gallinagh appeal

Cheltenham have appealed the red card shown to Andy Gallinagh during Saturday`s 2-0 defeat at Burton. The defender was the first Robins player to see red this season when he was given his marching orders for denying a goalscoring opportunity at the Pirelli Stadium. With the hearing set for later this week, Town will discover whether Gallinagh will miss Saturday`s home clash against Macclesfield with a one-match suspension or be cleared of any wrongdoing. Gallinagh appeared to be harshly punished for a challenge on Greg Pearson just inside the area which momentarily halted the run of the Burton striker who was still able to slot past Scott Brown. Instead, play was brought back and the 26-year-old was dismissed before Pearson slotted home the resulting spot-kick. Speaking on Saturday, Cheltenham manager Mark Yates said: "Their first goal may have been bad defending for letting the player in, but it wasn't a penalty. Andy Gallinagh got something on the ball. "The ref has blown before the ball has crossed the line and he's realised he's made a mistake - so he's given a penalty and sent a player off to punish us twice."
