Robins hopeful over council loan

Cheltenham Borough Council met at the Municipal Offices to discuss the League One club's application for the fully secured loan which will be paid back, with a commercial rate of interest, over a period of 10 years. A number of speakers voiced positive opinions in support of the loan during the meeting, highlighting the importance of the cash-strapped club to the local community. The decision now rests with council chief executive Andrew North, although no complexities are expected. In a statement on the club's official website, Baker said: "Not one councillor spoke out against the application, which was very pleasing indeed, and on that basis we feel confident the loan will now go ahead once we have furnished the council with the additional information it needs to formally process the loan." Cheltenham found themselves in serious financial danger at the start of the year, although Baker reassured fans all along that the club would not be entering administration.
