Cheltenham club captain Michael Pook has been made available on a free transfer while five out-of-contract players have been released after the League Two club revealed their retained list for the 2011/12 season. Manager Mark Yates has been disappointed with the contribution of Pook this season but insists there remains "every chance" the midfielder, who won the Players' Player of the Year award 12 months ago and still has a year remaining on his contract, could still be at the club next term. JJ Melligan, Frankie Artus, Martin Riley, Daniel Lloyd-Weston and Jake Lee are the quintet released and free to find new clubs this summer. Elsewhere, top scorer Wes Thomas and midfielder Dave Bird have both been offered new contracts with their current deals set to expire, although the future of Thomas remains very much up in the air as the striker looks to move closer to London to be with his pregnant girlfriend. Midfielder Marlon Pack, who is now a free agent having enjoyed a successful season-long loan from Portsmouth, is in negotiations over a permanent move to Whaddon Road. Youth-team top scorer Ethan Moore has received a verbal offer of a professional contract for 2011/2012. Keith Lowe and Brian Smikle have activated their clauses and the option of a second year with Town, joining Scott Brown, Steve Elliott, Kyle Haynes, Andy Gallinagh, Danny Andrew, Josh Low, Theo Lewis and Jeff Goulding in Cheltenham's squad next season.
