Finnigan hails Yates and Howarth

Former captain John Finnigan has hailed Cheltenham`s efforts over the first half of this season and saluted manager Mark Yates and assistant Neil Howarth for the way in which they have reversed the club`s fortunes. The current picture at Whaddon Road is very different to the one just over 12 months ago when the Robins were struggling at the wrong end of the npower League Two table and in managerial limbo with Martin Allen on gardening leave and John Schofield in temporary control. But Yates and Howarth have transformed Town around since their appointment a year ago - guiding them to safety last season by four points before turning them into genuine play-off contenders this term. And popular former midfielder Finnigan, who left in 2009, told the club`s official website: "I think Cheltenham are doing brilliant and certainly surprising a few people. "Mark and Neil have certainly turned things around, raised the expectations and, although they had a disappointing result against Southend, to go into Christmas in eighth position is a big positive. "Hopefully people will stick with the club and let`s hope for another successful season."
