Elliott eyeing Robins deal

Former Bristol Rovers defender Steve Elliott is still hoping to earn a contract at Cheltenham this summer. The 32-year-old is already in training with the Robins as he looks to seal a permanent move to Whaddon Road. But manager Mark Yates said earlier in the week that he was unlikely to make a move for Elliott and it is believed that his wage demands were too high for the League Two club. But Elliott is still hopeful a deal can be done and he told the Gloucestershire Echo: "I am here training at the moment and Mark Yates, Neil Howarth and the staff have been fantastic to me. "They have let me come down and train and we have been speaking. I don't think we are far away and I'd love to come here. "It's home and I am settled in the south west. Hopefully something might happen today (Thursday)."
