Elliott set to start

Cheltenham centre-back Steve Elliott is set for a start against Newport after shining in their 2-1 victory over Wycombe.

The 35-year-old made his return to the starting line-up after nearly two months on the sidelines and was their stand-out performer.

And with fellow defender Keith Lowe having departed to York on loan on Thursday, Elliott looks certain to retain his place at the heart of the defence.

Former Colchester striker Jamie Cureton grabbed his fourth goal of the season against the Chairboys and the experienced forward will hope to keep his spot under pressure from Terry Gornell.

Newport captain David Pipe will serve the final game of his suspension.

Justin Edinburgh's injury-hit squad have had to manage without their skipper following his straight red card for their last two matches and he will now miss out once more.

As well as managing without Pipe the Exiles have been missing last season's top scorer Aaron O'Connor due to a persistent groin problem while Max Porter, Andy Sandell and Byron Anthony have barely featured due to inury and Chris Zebroski is out until Christmas with a dislocated kneecap and ligament damage.

County will be backed by a bumper away crowd as they search for just their second away win in one of their closest trips of the season.
