Elliott blow for Robins

Cheltenham will be without defender Steve Elliott for the visit of Mansfield.

The experienced centre-back has missed the last two games with an ankle injury and will not feature during the busy festive period.

Young midfielder Kemar Roofe returned to action as a substitute in Cheltenham's 1-0 Boxing Day victory over Exeter and is in contention for a starting place.

That win extended the Robins' unbeaten run to 11 league games and saw them move to within four points of a play-off spot.

John Dempster returns to the reckoning for free-falling Mansfield.

The defender missed the 3-0 defeat at Rochdale on Boxing Day through suspension and could be restored to the centre of the Stags back four against the Robins.

Jamie McGuire, Lee Stevenson, Ritchie Sutton and James Jennings will also be vying for recalls after being dropped at Spotland, where Paul Cox's team suffered a ninth loss in a 13-game winless streak to leave them just one point outside the relegation places.

Sam Clucas (ankle) and Ben Hutchinson (hamstring) remain out injured. Eleven-goal leading scorer Clucas is expected to be out for around two months and fellow midfielder Hutchinson is looking at up to six weeks on the sidelines.
