Cheltenham 2-2 Torquay: Match Report

22 February 2011 22:49
Robins storm back to deny Gulls Cheltenham staged a dramatic fightback to come back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Torquay. The Gulls were on course for their fourth win in five games until Wes Thomas prodded home a last-gasp equaliser for the home side. Jake Robinson gave Torquay a stunning 14th-minute lead, gathering Lee Mansell's crossfield pass before powering a shot into the roof of the net from 25 yards. Guy Branson had forced an early save from home keeper Scott Brown who was called into action again late in the half to keep out a point blank header. The Robins raised their game after the break and a mistake from Branson was nearly punished by Matt Green but the striker blasted his shot straight at Danny Potter in the Gulls goal. But Jeff Goulding found the net 11 minutes from time following a goalmouth scramble before Thomas completed a fine recovery.
