Robins continue promotion march

Cheltenham maintained their promotion push with a hard-fought 2-0 victory at home to Aldershot.

Midfielder Luke Summerfield bagged the opener after 10 minutes before Kaid Mohamed netted a second in the closing stages.

Summerfield's effort, a thundering 20-yard drive, followed some excellent work by Luke Garbutt and Jimmy Spencer, and there was almost a second six minutes later when Spencer shot into the side-netting.

Summerfield crashed another effort just wide midway through the half while Aldershot's best chance came on the half-hour mark when Peter Vincenti rose highest but headed Jermaine McGlashan's cross over the bar.

The visitors dominated the closing stages of the half without testing Scott Brown in the Cheltenham goal and it was a similar tale in the second period as McGlashan caused chaos down the right wing.

But Aldershot's lack of firepower again proved costly and moments after Marlon Pack had almost rattled the crossbar from 35 yards, Mohamed wrapped up the points with a breakaway effort in the 90th minute, latching on to Jeff Goulding's pass before rifling into the roof of the net.
