Thomas sends Robins through Top scorer Wes Thomas returned from a month-long absence to fire the Robins into the second round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Morecambe. The striker came off the bench to net his eighth goal of the season with a low shot into the corner in the 80th minute after a neat pass by Jeff Goulding. It was tough luck on Morecambe keeper Barry Roche who was the star of the show in the first half with a string of saves. Roche denied Marlon Pack and Josh Low in quick succession and was relieved to see Robin Shroot's low cross escape the lunging boot of Brian Smikle. Another rasping drive by Pack was kept out by Roche's knee while at the other end Phil Jevons missed a gilt-edged header from six yards after 25 minutes. After the break Robins keeper Scott Brown rescued his defence, who were caught napping by a quick free kick, to save at the feet of Mark Duffy. Robins midfielder David Bird produced two great blocks to keep out the Shrimps including a vital one from Paul Mullin. Brown also clawed out a deflected Phil Jevons cross which was looping into the far corner.
