Boss confident of Robins survival

Whites midfielder Jonny Howson's two-goal second-half salvo broke the Robins' stubborn resistance.

This left Cheltenham bottom of the table, but Allen is convinced they can escape the drop, even if they are 12 points from safety.

He said: "We can still get out of trouble. You could see that from the way we played. The players have shown a fantastic attitude. If we keep playing like that, surely to God it has to change."

But Allen confessed: "This is the most challenging and frustrating period of my career. We've had a lot of injuries and picked up some more in this one.

"However, the players' hard work and attitude keep me going. It is not a challenge to walk away from because they are giving everything they have got."
