Allen proud of battling display

Goals from Ricky Sappleton and John Rooney put the Silkmen in control at the break and Elvis Hammond's 69th-minute strike proved no more than a consolation for the home side. Allen admitted that some players had produced a below-par display as the Robins failed to overcome a two-goal half-time deficit. He said: "Full credit to the players for playing with knocks. They deserve credit the way they came out in the second half. The fact that so many turned out having not trained all week was impressive. "Seven of them have knocks and probably won't train now until Thursday. But they showed real spirit to play when so many have injuries. "There's a lot of credit for a lot of players but some are still coming up short."
