Allen placed on gardening leave
The 44-year-old has temporarily been stood down from his duties while the club's directors investigate an off-the-field incident.
The move follows reports in the Gloucestershire Echo that Allen allegedly racially abused a nightclub bouncer at the Thirteen Degrees club in Cheltenham.
John Schofield has been placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs.
Allen, a former West Ham player, took over at Cheltenham in September last year, following in the footsteps of his father, Dennis.
