WORLD CUP 2010: Didier Drogba given all-clear for Ivory Coast opener against Portugal

Support cast: Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba will play with a cast on his fractured arm against Portugal Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has been given the green light to play with a protective cast on his arm for the World Cup Group G match against Portugal match on Tuesday. The Chelsea forward's participation had been in doubt after he suffered a fractured arm in a challenge during a friendly match against Japan in the build-up to the World Cup. Drogba has been wearing a protective cast which FIFA had to approve if the 32-year-old was to wear it in the Group G opener. After falling awkwardly in an ariel challenge with Japan defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka 15 minutes into Ivory Coast's final warm-up game it was initially believed the talismanic forward would miss the tournament. In training: Didier Drogba (right) has kept himself fit while he waited for the OK from FIFA However after undergoing surgery he is fit and ready to play after FIFA, the referee and the Portuguese authorities found no problem with the device. FIFA's head of media Nicolas Maingot said: 'Regarding Didier Drogba, the referee of the match Jorge Larrionda has okayed the cast which Didier Drogba will use to play. The cast has been seen by the Portuguese delegation at Monday's match co-ordination meeting.'  Ivory Coast sweat on Didier Drogba as he misses out on training... againDeco warning for Ivory Coast: There's more to Portugal than Cristiano RonaldoToure convinced Ivory Coast know how to cope with Brazil and PortugalCLICK HERE FOR ALL THE LATEST IVORY COAST NEWS
