Where now for Radamel Falcao?

Its no big surprise that the player once believed to be heading to Real Madrid had his big-money move from the Principality of Monaco moved down the priority list and then off the plate completely as his compatriot was signed instead.

Perhaps things could have played out differently were he not injured before the World Cup and the worlds attention switched to a certain James Rodriguez, top-scorer and deliverer of the World Cup wonder-goal. Instead the player who had become one of the top goal-threats in Europe and courted admirers from the Worlds most glamorous clubs is wondering at his own future in the coming days and weeks.

Rodriguez stole the show at the World Cup and immediately became the subject of desire for the Galacticos whereas Falcao was struggling to return from an injury that cut his season short. Falcao missed the global circus and shop window of renown in Brazil and now must get back to full fitness and back to doing what he does best, scoring lots of goals.

I personally think a front three of Falcao, Ronaldo and Bale to be a much more scary prospect to what they now have which may prove more difficult to work with Carlo Ancelotti’s favoured formation. Karim Benzema can certainly let out a sigh of relief but will need to deliver the goods next season.

The Express have reported that the striker is keen to leave Monaco but that Real were no longer looking to sign him with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly ‘monitoring’ the situation. The likely immense transfer fee and wages would not be viable to most clubs.

The Express quote Spanish outlet El Confidencial who themselves quote a ‘source’: "Falcao will not play in Real Madrid now." The Express however say that Monaco want £9.5m for a season-long loan with a remaining £35.5m to be payed to complete the deal next summer. If we were to believe that it would make the alleged wantaway striker the deal of the century!
