What will it take to convince Abramovich to keep Lampard?

It only took the midfield maestro 15 minutes against Brazil to turn the game in England’s favour but still remains out of favour with Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

His wonderfully taken goal on Wednesday night made it eight goals in his last 12 games for club and country. Lampard’s current Premier league tally is ten goals in 17 games leading to fans protesting over the way their favourite player is being treated.

Another infuriating thing for fans is that Chelsea have refused to comment on why they are not giving the clubs most consistent player a new deal. Lampard currently has 197 goals in 587 appearances which is just five behind the club’s all-time leading scorer Bobby Tambling.

It’s clear by the number of clubs interested in Lampard that he still has a lot to offer with no less than five sides across the globe after the midfielder. Manchester United are keen to take on the 34 year old in the summer who are rumoured to be offering £65,000- a-week with an option to a one year extension. If Chelsea do release Lampard in the summer he may opt for United as he wants to remain playing football at a top level so he can stake a claim for the next World Cup.
