Villa up for sale: Valencia ready to cash in on 35m Manchester United target

Valencia will not be able to resist Manchester United's attempts to sign David Villa, according to reports in Spain. The La Liga club will have to listen to offers for prized trio Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata in a bid to reduce debts of about £450million. Villa tops Sir Alex Ferguson's hit list, with United hoping £35m will be enough to lure the 27-year-old to Old Trafford. Up for grabs: Prolific Valencia striker David Villa United, Chelsea and Manchester City were all interested in Villa in the summer, only to be told he would only consider leaving Valencia for Barcelona or Real Madrid. Spain's big two have since shelled out on alternative centre forwards and Villa no longer rules out playing outside of his homeland. Silva was wanted by Liverpool in the summer and also tempted United, but is more likely to stay in La Liga. Midfielders Silva, Mata and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas remain long-term targets for Barcelona, according to Catalan newspaper Sport, but coach Pep Guardiola is prepared to be patient in his bid to slowly strengthen an already stellar midfield at the Nou Camp.
