Villa scuppers England move

Liverpool and Chelsea's hopes of luring David Villa away from Valencia this summer appear to have been scuppered after the striker revealed his desire to remain in Spain. Villa, 25, is one of the hottest properties in European football after two impressive seasons with Valencia. The former Real Zaragoza hitman is under contract at the La Liga club until 2013 and insists he wants to stay and extend his deal. He has a reported £100million buyout clause in his contract at the Mestella. Villa has netted 15 times in 35 league appearances for Los Che this season and helped the club secure Champions League football for next term. Last season he was second to Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o in Spain's goalscoring stakes after netting 25 times. "My wish is to stay here," he revealed. "Not only this year but in the future because I am under contract and I hope I can extend it. "In any case, we will have to wait and see what happens this summer."
