View from the Bridge - Chelsea fans get to write their own book

15 April 2010 11:24

Chelsea fans are to get a chance to write their very own book, full of their fondest memories of Stamford Bridge and following their favourite team around the world.

Sports writer Steven Downes, a long-time friend of cfcuk and a season ticket-holder, has been commissioned by publishers SportsBooks Ltd to edit View From The Bridge.

"The book is to be by the fans and for the fans," Downes said. "It will need input from all generations of Chelsea fans, who can share the favourite memories of following the club, whether good, bad, sad or, especially, mad."

Downes has compiled a set of brief subject areas to prompt cfcuk readers to contribute. "The questions are just a starting point, like a preliminary interview, and I will get back to some contributors to get more information. But if you reply, please write as much as you like, with as many details as you can include. And of course, you can send in your memories on as many of the subject areas as you like.

"If you don't want me to identify you with a particular incident, I promise to respect your confidentiality, but please remember to state this on your email to me. I will still need a name and address, phone number so that I might contact you off the record if necessary."

Every contributor who wants to will have their name included in the book. Areas where Downes wants contributions:

Your memories of watching your first match at Stamford Bridge, and why.

Your memories of your favourite match at Stamford Bridge, and why.

Your memories of your best away match trip to see Chelsea, and why.

Your memories of going abroad to watch Chelsea play.

Your memories of going to Wembley (old or new) to watch Chelsea play.

Your worst memories of a game at Stamford Bridge, and why.

Your worst memories of an away trip to see Chelsea play, and why.

Your favourite Chelsea player that you've ever seen, and why.

Your least favourite Chelsea player, and why.

Your memories of meeting a Chelsea player in a non-match situation. Where, and how, and what happened?

What's your favourite pub for meeting your mates before a game, and why.

Email your Chelsea memories to viewfromthebridge@btinternet.com by the end of June, and remember to include your name, address, where you usually watch games at Stamford Bridge, and a daytime contact phone number.
