Veron sensation: United flop claims to have snubbed Manchester City

Juan Sebastian Veron has sensationally claimed that Manchester City attempted to lure him to Eastlands in a shocking £7million deal.[LNB]According to the former Manchester United flop, new City boss Roberto Mancini personally rang him, in a bid to bring him back to the Barclays Premier League.[LNB]Veron, now captain of his hometown team Estudiantes in La Plata, played alongside Mancini at both Sampdoria and Lazio. [LNB] City snub: Veron claims he turned down a lucrative deal to join Manchester City[LNB]But the 34-year-old snubbed a reunion with the City manager insisting he is happy to stay with the Buenos Aires club.[LNB]'I talked to Mancini, but it's not possible now,' Veron told Argentinian radiostation La Red.[LNB]'It's not a fact of money. First of all is the family, and second, Ihave made a decision and I want to respect it, that is what I feel andEstudiantes is the place where I feel comfortable. But onmy part there wasn't a lot to think about. My response was instant.' [LNB]'In addition, that amount would have got duplicated if he would have continued at Manchester City during 2011.'[LNB]Veron is widely considered as one of the biggest transfer flops in English football after his combined £43million moves to Manchester United and Chelsea.[LNB]The midfielder joined United in 2001 under a huge fanfare but just 45 league starts and two seasons later, he was sold to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
