United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea battle to sign Neven Subotic - 'the new Vidic'

A defender dubbed the next Nemanja Vidic could soon be playing alongside his compatriot at Manchester United. Borussia Dortmund's 6ft 4in centre-half Neven Subotic is in at the centre of six-team fight for his signature, according to reports in Spain. United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and AC Milan are all tracking the 20-year-old, says Madrid newspaper Marca. The Serbia international's agent, Steve Kelly, says he is not surprised by the interest and believes he could secure a move next summer if Serbia get to the World Cup finals. 'Neven is always going to attract speculation because he is a top class player,' Kelly told Sport.co.uk. 'I think he would be interested in a top club, but which client? I don’t know. It is doubtful he will move in January, but I am sure there will be a lot of speculation and rumours. 'There is absolutely nothing concrete at this moment in time, I can confirm that. No representative or club has approached me, and I have no phone calls at all. 'He is one of the top young centre half’s in Europe, and it is no surprise figures of £15million and £20m are being talked about. I know England’s top clubs are monitoring, as are Italy’s top clubs. 'He plays for Serbia (against Romania) at the weekend and if they win that they qualify for the World Cup. Speculation is bound to start, but I cannot see him moving before next summer’s tournament. But anything can happen in football.'
