United poised to swoop for summer free agent Cole, if contract talks fail

Manchester United are lining up a sensational free transfer move for Joe Cole this summer with the Chelsea midfielder looking ever more likely to quit Stamford Bridge due to his failing contract talks.[LNB]Cole has been out of favour with Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti since returning from a cruciate ligament injury in September last year and was revealed to have angered owner Roman Abramovich with his £100,000-plus-per-week wage demands during talks over a new deal.[LNB]Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-time admirer of the 28-year-old England star and has spoken with the club's hierarchy about a move for Cole, whose contract expires at the end of the season, according to The People.[LNB] Summer exit?
