Manchester United chief executive David Gill hopes to quickly clear up Carlos Tevez's future but warned if would be a step down if the Argentine leaves Old Trafford. Bags packed: But Carlos Tevez is arriving in Rome rather than departing United just yet Tevez appears to be resigned to seeking pastures new after becoming unhappy at his lack of first-team opportunities and United's failure to pay the agreed £25million extra to make the transfer permanent. But Gill insists the door is not closed on the Old Trafford favourite, whose two-year loan deal ends at the end of June. Talking of dealing with Tevez's owner Kia Joorabchian, Gill appeared to concede that United will not be able to come down on the previously agreed price, after already paying £9m in loan fees. 'We're clear we've got an agreement with them, with the company, that if we want to acquire the option we have to pay a certain sum,' Gill told Sky Sports News. 'In that respect it is arguably easier because it is a fixed fee. It is not like they can negotiate for weeks. It is a fixed fee. It is in everyone's interests to be resolved and I think it will be pretty quickly.'
