Eventually, a stretcher was called and Torres was carried from the field in severe pain.[LNB] With much of his last season at Anfield disrupted by injury, the last thing the Spaniard needs as he considers the attractiveness of a switch to Barclays Premier League champions Chelsea is another injury setback.[LNB] As Vicente del Bosque's team went up the steps at Soccer City to collect their winners' medals and the trophy, Torres ultimately managed to join them and took part in a lap of honour.[LNB] However, he was still clearly in discomfort and was seen holding the injured area with his hand on more than one occasion. Torres then went back to the dressing room for further treatment as his team-mates continued celebrating.[LNB] Torres came into the World Cup having played little football and it showed.
