Top five - Love-rat footballers

02 February 2010 09:28
John Terry is football's love rat elect this week, with revelations of an affair with Vanessa Perroncel putting his role as England captain into question.

But let's be honest, JT isn't the first millionnaire footballer to score away from home. And he won't be the last.

Here's our list of the Top Five Womanising Footballers. We're sure to have missed some out, so please comment on the story below or log onto to our Facebook page to join the debate.

1. GEORGE BEST

The legendary Busby Babe was dubbed the fifth Beatle, and had no problem attracting a string of beautiful women. Besty dazzled his way past the defences of some of the world's most desirable women, almost as easily as he skipped past some of the world's best defences. "When's the closest to kick-off you've ever been with a woman?" famously asked an interviewer once. "At half-time," replied Manchested United's number seven.

2. ASHLEY COLE

When 'Cashley' Cole did the dirty on Cheryl with a hairdresser, his reputation was forever tarnished. For some reason, the Girls Aloud star and X Factor judge forgave the Chelsea full-back - who presumably put up a better defence than he usually does in the colours of England.

3. DIEGO MARADONA

"I am Maradona and I can do what I like," said Diego Maradona famously during his 'binge' years. The Argentine came from humble beginnings to ultimately become the greatest footballer on the planet, before spiralling into a descent that saw him form Mafia connections, become addicted to drugs and develop a fondness for prostitutes.

4. THIERRY HENRY

Long before he hit the headlines for the handball that robbed Ireland of a place at the 2010 World Cup, Thierry Henry allegedly cheated on his wife with a make-up artist called Sadie Hewlett. Mrs Henry discovered the affair after reading lewd text messages on Henry's phone and the pair split soon afterwards.

5. JOHN TERRY

What's worse than cheating on your wife? Cheating on your wife with one your team-mates' girlfriends, right under his nose. Nice work JT.
