It is therefore a surprise he has remained with Chelsea so long, although he is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season once his contract expires.
With Chelsea facing losing him on a free, Anelka has now expressed an interest in moving clubs in January.
PSG are favourites to sign Anelka who may well be keen to move back to his home country and end his career with the club where it all started for him.
