John Terry's future at Chelsea will be resolved within a week as boss Carlo Ancelotti remains confident of holding on to his skipper. The centre-back is wanted by big-spending Manchester City, who are desperate to beef up their defence after heavy investment in their forward line. City have already been snubbed by Chelsea after offering £30million for the England captain, although they are set to return with a £40m bid. Owner Roman Abramovich is flying to the United States for Chelsea's pre-season tour and he is expected to attempt to convince Terry to reject City. Yet, Ancelotti insists the star will stay at Stamford Bridge and he believes the matter will soon be cleared up. 'I think that in one week nobody will have a problem about John Terry,' said the Italian. 'John wants to stay in Chelsea and Chelsea want John Terry to be captain for more years.' Ancelotti, who is unsurprised at City's interest in a star who has spent his entire career with Chelsea, says it would be unthinkable to let him go. 'It is normal because he is a great player and all teams want to buy a great player,' he said. 'These are normal questions but he stays in the same team because he is a captain for Chelsea, it is impossible to sell John Terry. Asked how crucial Terry's loyalty was to Chelsea's future, Ancelotti added: 'It is very important because Terry, like Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, is a very important player. 'Not only as players but as men. They are great men and they present an example for other players. This is very important for the club.'
