Terry to repay Scolari faith
10 Jul 2008 - 08:00:04
Chelsea captain John Terry has pledged to repay the early faith shown in him by new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
The newly-installed Blues boss confirmed Terry would retain the club captaincy at his first press conference and the England defender is ready to show his new Brazilian boss that his decision is the correct one.
The 27-year-old was handed the armband during Jose Mourinho's arrival at the club as manager in 2004.
"I was watching the press conference and it was nice to hear that he is going to stay with me as captain," Terry told Chelsea TV.
"Obviously I still need to prove myself in pre-season and prove to him that I want to be here and I am good enough to play, so there is still a lot of hard work to go in from my end.
"He's a very good guy and a great football man, he knows his football.
"His English is very good actually. There have been no problems whatsoever so far."
