Terry set for Wembley start
13 May 2010 - 12:29:56
John Terry will be fit to captain Chelsea in Saturday's FA Cup Final against Portsmouth after making a return to training on Thursday morning.
Terry found himself at the centre of a pre-World Cup injury scare when a foot injury picked up during training on Wednesday was rumoured to be a possible broken metatarsal bone.
He left the club's Cobham training complex wearing a protective cast before scans allayed fears that he might miss the tournament in South Africa.
Terry is now in line to start at Wembley in Saturday's domestic showpiece, according to a club spokesperson.
"John Terry has started this morning's final training session at Cobham prior to the FA Cup Final," he said. "Tomorrow the squad will train at Wembley."
Terry had earlier calmed fears that he was a major doubt for England's World Cup campaign, which begins with a Group C encounter against the United States on June 12.
He said: "I took a slight knock in training but, with such an important match on Saturday, the right course of action was to put a protective boot on my right foot and have a CT scan.
"The scan has shown there is no break and I am hoping to train tomorrow if not Friday and of course play in the FA Cup final on Saturday."
