Terry return on hold
04 Mar 2007 - 09:21:35
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that captain John Terry will not feature in the midweek Champions League showdown with FC Porto due to the head injury he sustained in the Carling Cup final.
Terry took a fearful boot in the face from Gunners midfielder Abou Diaby during the 2-1 win at the Millennium Stadium and is still recovering from the after-effects of the clash.
Mourinho said after the 2-0 Premiership win at Portsmouth: "John Terry has no chance of playing against Porto.
"JT is more important than a football result and we won't risk him, the medical rules are the medical rules. Maybe he will return next weekend against Tottenham."
Meanwhile, the Portuguese hailed the performance of Petr Cech at Fratton Park, with the Czech Republic goalkeeper making a couple of outstanding saves to help the Blues keep the title race alive.
"Petr Cech is a goalkeeper that wins you up to 15 points a season," Mourinho added.
"His saves were magnificent. With Petr in goal all season and not being out for four months - how many more points would Chelsea have now?"
