Terry may request transfer
05 Jul 2009 - 11:42:43
Reports on Sunday suggest Chelsea captain John Terry could hand in a transfer request later this month as Manchester City continue to chase his signature.
The England international has said in the past that he wanted to spend his entire career at Stamford Bridge but appears to have had a change of heart and could be willing to start a new chapter in his career at Eastlands.
The 28-year-old has three more years to run on his current contract and Chelsea have said the defender is not for sale.
Earlier in the week Chelsea rejected a second offer from City for their captain. Terry was the subject of one unsuccessful bid from the ambitious Eastlands club in May.
The Citizens are reported to have made an offer of £25million for the central defender, who has spent all his professional career at Stamford Bridge.
A statement on Chelsea's official website read: "We can confirm we have completely rejected an offer from Manchester City for John Terry.
"It was made clear to City, for a second time following an approach last season, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject.
"At the time John also reiterated his total commitment to Chelsea.
"We would like to make it clear, and will not do so again, that John is not for sale."
