Terry: I'll be fit for Moscow
Sunday May 11 2008 18:21

Chelsea captain John Terry is optimistic he will be fit for the Champions League Final, despite suffering an elbow injury in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Terry was stretchered from the pitch in the tenth minute of the final league game of the season following a heavy collision with goalkeeper Petr Cech.

But, despite being taken to hospital, the 27-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge to watch the latter stages of a match which ultimately ended in disappointment.

Manchester United's 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic secured a second successive league title for the Red Devils.

Terry reportedly suffered a partial dislocation of the elbow joint.

"It popped back in before I got to hospital and I need three or four days rest, but I should be fit for Moscow - fingers crossed," he claimed.

Meanwhile, Terry paid tribute to United, but warned the champions that Chelsea are confident of winning the Champions League Final when the sides meet in Moscow on May 21.

"We have lots of respect for them. They have been fantastic this season and deserve to be at the top of table where they are," he told Sky Sports.

"We dropped points at crucial stages and that has probably cost us, although that should take nothing away from United who have been brilliant.

"But Moscow is a different story and we're aiming to be ready for that one now.

"I am still thoroughly disappointed we have not won the league, but the European Cup is one we are missing and the one we all want now."
