Terry hopes Hiddink stays
12 Feb 2009 - 10:32:59
Chelsea captain John Terry hopes Guus Hiddink will eventually become the permanent boss at Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman has agreed to combine his work as Russia coach with the manager's job at Chelsea until the end of the season following Luiz Felipe Scolari's departure on Monday.
Terry said: "We have six months to turn things around and, if we do, he'll probably get offered the full-time job. It's down to us to get results for him.
"I like the fact Guus Hiddink has stayed loyal to the Russia team. He's got them an awful long way in a short time.
"When Avram (Grant) was given the job, we had a meeting and we came together and realised we had to fight and work at our top level. The same is going to be needed again.
"I can only speak for myself and Lamps - we were behind the boss (Scolari).
"As a manager you'll never keep everyone happy. The players need to stick together now."
