Terry fires title warning
14 Dec 2006 - 08:31:35
Chelsea skipper John Terry has fired a title warning to Manchester United after the Blues closed the gap at the top to five points following Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Newcastle.
Jose Mourinho's side were made to work for the points by their injury-ravaged opposition before substitute Didier Drogba struck the decisive blow 15 minutes from time.
Afterwards Terry delivered an ominous warning to United that Chelsea have yet to hit top gear.
"Manchester United are probably playing the best football they can play at the moment," said the England captain. "They've also had very few injuries so far.
"Whereas we know as a team we've got another level to go to. We need to take the game to teams and then no-one can live with us. We must go on a run of games and keep winning.
"We must keep the pressure up. Christmas is a difficult period. United have got tough games.
"We must just keep winning and keep on like we know we're capable of."
