Terry back to captain Blues
17 Oct 2008 - 15:57:33
Chelsea captain John Terry will return to action this weekend despite missing England's World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus with a back injury.
Terry will play against Middlesbrough on Saturday but Scolari has admitted that Michael Ballack will be out for up to three weeks.
"I had 19 players for training on Friday morning," the Brazilian told the Blues' official website. "All those players are in good condition. John (Terry) has recovered very well, and is in good condition.
"However, Deco is not ready 100 per cent but is better than the last two weeks. He will travel with me and I will see tomorrow what happens in the game."
On Ballack, who was injured in midweek playing for Germany, Scoalri added: "Ballack is out for maybe two or three weeks. I am not angry, I am happy because what happened is a test for me that I am a good coach.
"I need to change and improve, play other players, motivate some players, putting players in who have not played, it is good for me and my work. It is not difficult for me.
"When the players are in their national team they need to play and give their life for the national team.
"Out of the national team, give their life for the club. They are there to make the best for their national team. If you are injured you are injured. I don't see any time in my life a coach put an injured player on the pitch."
Joe and Ashley Cole will definitely miss the game while Petr Cech is rated as doubtful.
