Terry triumphs against taunts

JT lead by example once again Chelsea wheeled out Ray Wilkins to comment on his side’s 2-0 win over Stoke City which sees the Blues contest Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.But Wilkins came out before the draw was made so we were not able to ask him what he thought of the tie - typical Chelsea timing. But of the game itself most of the questions centred on a player who played and one that did not.John Terry scored the decisive second goal but was continually verbally abused by the away fans.Wilkins said of Terry: “JT is dealing with the situation the best possible way by playing well. When Wilkins was pressed on why Terry pointed to his armband when he scored, Wilkins said:” JT was taking stick from the Stoke supporters - but he is the leader on the pitch for us”Of the player who can‘t get a game, Joe Cole, Wilkins said: “Joe is having a difficult time it’s being traumatic for him but he will play many more games for Chelsea.”Asked about Cole not signing a new contract, Wilkins came out with the company line: “It’s up to the club and Joe. I’m sure it will be sorted before the season is over.” Tony Pulis, Stoke’s boss said: “ You have to take your chances when you have them, especially against a side like Chelsea.“But we have beaten good side’s like Arsenal and we had five players out so I’m delighted with our performance. Our fans were different class and gave John Terry some stick, but he will get over it.If England do well in the World Cup and Terry plays a good part in it, then he will be a hero.”
