Terry set to miss FA Cup tie with Cardiff to fly to Dubai and save his marriage

John Terry will be allowed to miss Chelsea's FA Cup fifth round tie against Cardiff this weekend if he wants to try to patch up his marriage.[LNB]The Chelsea captain's marriage is under threat after allegations he had an affair with the ex-girlfriend of former team-mate Wayne Bridge.[LNB]Terry has recovered from the dead leg he collected in the victory over Arsenal on Sunday and will lead the Blues against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.[LNB] Captain Fantastic: Terry was superb against Arsenal (above) and was cheered by fans throughout the match (below)[LNB] He is expected to leave for Dubai after the game to spend time with his wife Toni and coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Terry will be given time off should he ask for it.[LNB]'We have spoken and we will take the decision together after the Everton game to see if he needs to rest two days or if he wants to stay here and play against Cardiff,' said Ancelotti.[LNB]'He has not asked for any time off to see his wife. My preference is what he wants. I am totally supportive of him. We will make the decision together.[LNB]'We want to respect the FA Cup because it is an important trophy in this country so we will speak after the game against Everton and make the decision, the right one for us both.[LNB]'The FA Cup and John's marriage are different; FA Cup is professional, the other thing is private.'[LNB]On the pitch Ancelotti is hoping Chelsea's defending will mot be as sloppy as it was in their last meeting with Everton.[LNB] Game saver: Louis Saha of Everton celebrates after scoring at Chelsea during the sides 3-3 draw earlier this season[LNB]The Toffees drew 3-3 at Stamford Bridge in December when some of Chelsea's set-piece defending was inept to say the least.[LNB]But Ancelotti believes Wednesday's clash with Everton and Manchester United's game against Aston Villa could, if results go his way, prove to be a turning point in the  season.[LNB]'The Everton game at home was strange because we conceded three goalsfrom set pieces, but we played very well,' Ancelotti said. 'Wednesdaywill be a different game but we need to win. We need to maintain ourposition at the top of the league but it will not be easy.[LNB]Mr Chelsea: Terry thanked fans for their response[LNB]'They are playing very well but lost their last game to Liverpool, so we have to pay attention. It could be an important night in the Premier League. We play Everton and Manchester United play Aston Villa.[LNB]'We want to win the league and we need to win away. We do not change our philosophy away from home.[LNB]'Sometimes you play against a team who are stronger at home and have the support of their fans, so they can do better.[LNB]'But we be will be better at defending set pieces. We won a lot of games from set pieces and against Arsenal we scored from a corner so we are doing very well in front of goal.'[LNB]Meanwhile, Ancelotti refused to be drawn into a war of words with Arsenal following their victory over the Gunners on Sunday.[LNB]Arsene Wenger today moved to put the record straight after Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack told the Arsenal manager to stop looking for excuses in the wake of their 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.[LNB]The defeat left the Gunners nine points off the Barclays Premier League leaders and, while Wenger congratulated Chelsea on their efficiency, he also claimed 'we didn't get a demonstration of football'.[LNB]Ballack responded by taunting Arsenal's inability to win big matches and to vary their tactics, declaring: 'It is always the same style. If you play tactics like we did, you can beat them.'[LNB]But Ancelotti said: 'Ballack explained his position about the game. Ballack said good things and we prepared very well and we did what we wanted on the pitch and nothing else.[LNB]'I heard what Wenger said about our performance on the pitch but we did the same as Arsenal.[LNB]'We had a very good performance. Usually we are in control of the game with possession but it's difficult to keep control of the game without possession, so tactically we did very well.'[LNB] Terry thanks 'incredible' Chelsea fans for getting him through a difficult timePICTURE SPECIAL: Chelsea fans show their support for under-fire captain John TerryAxed skipper Terry is still my world beater, says England boss CapelloPFA chief offers John Terry and Wayne Bridge help after sordid revelationsChelsea endured 'difficult week' following John Terry scandal, admits Arsenal slayer Didier DrogbaAren't you in enough trouble already John?
