Terry grateful to grind out win
John Terry admitted Chelsea were a long way from their best but was happy to come away with the three points from a 1-0 win over Bolton.[LNB] Carlo Ancelotti's side moved four points clear at the top with four games left to go as Nicolas Anelka's goal late in the first half was enough to defeat the Wanderers.[LNB]It was not a convincing performance from the Blues, but Terry is more worried about results rather than performances.[LNB]"It certainly wasn't easy out there with Kevin Davies up front and Jack Wilshere playing off him, they caused us problems all night, but we stuck in there and ground it out," he told ESPN.[LNB]"We've done what we had to do. Bolton came here to win the game, they were pressing, playing man to man and made it difficult, but we've handled it well.[LNB]"We were probably a bit below our tempo, taking too many touches, but Didier (Drogba) pulled left, I'm screaming at him to get in the box, but he puts in a great cross and Nico's got a great header to score against his old club."[LNB]Chelsea, however, were lucky, that two apparent handballs - one by Terry and another by Drogba - were not spotted by the officials as Bolton could have had a pair of penalties.[LNB]Terry insisted the ball hit his shoulder, but in saying that teams do not always get the decisions they deserve, perhaps admitted Bolton were unlucky.[LNB]"I said after the Villa game, you play 40-odd games, you are going to get some penalties and not get others," he said.[LNB]"The ball came off here," he added, pointing to his chest. "It certainly felt like my chest."[LNB]However, Bolton boss Owen Coyle did not agree.[LNB]"They weren't claims for a penalty," he said. "They were stonewall penalties. I knew it at the time.[LNB]"Didier Drogba is a world-class player, but looking at this replay he could be a world class volleyball player. We're fighting for our lives to try and stay in the division.[LNB]"I've asked the linesman about it after the game but he's said it hit his shoulder. He needs to take another look at that.[LNB]"It's the same story, we've been to big places before and things don't go your way.[LNB]"It's not about luck, we're not asking for anything we're not due."[LNB]However, Coyle was pleased with the effort shown by his team.[LNB]"I thought we offered an awful lot to the game, and I'm bitterly disappointed to leave with no points. I thought the lads did fantastic, we had a great shape to us, and I thought they were outstanding for the duration of the match.[LNB]"The lads deserve more than they got tonight, that's for sure.[LNB]"What we do know is that if we go and replicate that performance in our last four games it will result in points."[LNB]For Chelsea, a few more points could seal the title.[LNB]Next up is a trip to Champions League-chasing Tottenham, while title rivals Manchester United are at local rivals City, who currently have the fourth spot Spurs covet.[LNB]"We've all got a difficult weekend," Terry added. "It's a local derby for us. We are four points ahead and we want to kick on and make that more."[LNB]Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti echoed Terry in putting the emphasis on results, but declared himself delighted with the win.[LNB]"It was not easy, it was a strong match, a tough game but we did our job," he said.[LNB]"It was difficult but when they played their long balls, we were able to fight and win. We had good control of the game. We could have scored in the second half to make it easier, but we didn't score when (Salomon) Kalou had the chance.[LNB]"That made it difficult but it was a very important result and we are very happy.[LNB]"Now it is important to take points. We need to add three points each time. Now we have four more than Manchester United and we are in a very good position but we have to know every game will be difficult."[LNB]Ancelotti also refused to be drawn on the penalty decisions that did not go Bolton's way.[LNB]"It is not my job to judge the work of the officials," he said. "I never did it when the decisions don't go for us. Sometimes we are unlucky, sometimes we are lucky, but I don't like to judge the job of referees.[LNB]"It is a difficult job, sometimes they make the right decisions, sometimes they make bad decisions."[LNB]The title race is now very much in Chelsea's hands with four games remaining and Ancelotti is calling for his players to stay focused.[LNB]"We have to maintain this level," he said. "We are doing well, we are very focused and in a very good position, but we have a very difficult game on Saturday against Tottenham and we have to do our best to win that game."
